MAPS

The only e-maps service that I have found that correctly place our destinations on their maps is www.mapquest.com .

Do not trust your GPS to give you correct directions!!!

Just enter these addresses on mapquest to find their location, and to find your way between them:

Anthony's at the Delta--233 N. Paseo de Onate, Espanola, NM 87532

Inn at the Delta--243 N. Paseo de Onate, Espanola, NM 87532

The following addresses are definitely not mailing addresses, but will locate these place on your map.

Entrance to Nivas area--8 Shady Lane, Espanola, NM 87532

Ashram Gurdwara--21 E. Sombrillo Rd., Espanola, NM 87532

Kyla Hoffbauer, our most capable meeting manager!  Her e-mail address is khoffbauer@yahoo.com and cell phone is 928-300-7038

HOUSING

You will need to arrange for your own housing!

You can try either of these two places for which we are providing some extra services, or you might stay with someone in the Ashram, or even at another motel either in Espanola or Santa Fe!  You will find more housing alternatives plus much more at www.SoulAnswer.com/new_mexico.html.  There are so many choices!

Please stay only in Espanola.  It gets so dark here, and the roads are not well marked and can be confusing even in the daytime.  At a recent course here, folks who stayed in Santa Fe, or at Ojo Caliente got lost for up to 2 hours trying to make it back to their lodging at night.

TRANSPORT CHOICES

You will need to provide your own transportation at every leg between your home and Espanola!  Here is some information that you might find useful.

AIRLINE INFORMATION:

When you fly into New Mexico, you will probably be arriving at the Albuquerque Sunport/Airport.  That is the only major airport in New Mexico.  There is an airport in Santa Fe, but the airfare to that airport, I understand is fairly expensive, and you would need to check if the shuttles would pick you up there.

For your flight, you might look into www.Southwest.com .  In my opinion, they are the most economical, but they don’t show up on the discount airfare sites.

If you get into Albuquerque with a late flight, or your flight leaves very early in the morning, you might consider staying at a motel near the airport.  The Comfort Inn/Airport on Yale Blvd. is close to the airport, has comparatively resonable rates, plus a free shuttle to and from the airport.  You just have to schedule your shuttle with the motel.  Click here to go to their webpage. If you are taking another shuttle from there to Espanola, be sure to  let them know where you are staying.  Your Espanola shuttle may be able to pick you up at your motel rather than having to get back to the airport to meet them.

If you are driving, you can either bypass Santa Fe on the “Relief Route,” or you can go through it.  If you would like some special snacks or some good prepared foods to bring with you, you can stop at Whole Foods in Santa Fe.  Driving directions from the Airport, through Santa Fe and to those health food stores, plus lots more are at www.SoulAnswer.com/new_mexico.html.  There are no health food stores in Espanola.

COMPARISON AMONG TRANSPORTATION BETWEEN THE AIRPORT AND ESPANOLA.

It is a minimum of a 1 1/2 hour drive from the Albuquerque airport to Espanola.  There are no trains or buses that take this route--only shuttle services or your rental car.

COST
OPPORTUNITY

Twin Hearts Shuttle

800-654-9456

$75 round trip, $40 one way.

They will take you to either the Nivas ("old Ladies Camp area") at about 6 Shady Lane, or to the Inn at the Delta, but probably not take you to a private home.  Their regular stop is at the DreamCather movie theater at the intersection of the Santa Fe Hwy. 84/285 and Rt. 106, Yogi Bhajan Hwy. that leads to the Ashram.  Twin Hearts timing can be off, and some of them can be gruff with you.  But they have a comparatively good price.  Be sure to make your reservations ahead.  Sometimes they get full.  They do not run either early in the day, or later in the evening.

If need be, check to see if they would take you to other locations, such as a private home if you are staying with someone in the ashram, or another hotel/motel.

Road Runner Shuttle Service

505-424-3367

$125 round trip, $65 one way.

On time, courteous and probably will take you where you want to go.  Make your reservation ahead.  They do not run either early in the day, or later in the evening.

If need be, check to see if they would take you to other locations, such as a private home if you are staying with someone in the ashram, or another hotel/motel.

Budget Car Rental

800-527-0700

Rental of a full sized car from Feb. 18 through Feb. 21, including insurance, tas, unlimited miles, and estimated gas for 250 miles (it is about 100 miles between Albequerque and Espanola) = $257, divided by 3 people = $86.

Prices and bonuses are always changing!  All car rental companies in Albequerque:  http://www.cabq.gov/airport/car-rental/car-rental

With a car, if you stayed at the Inn at the Delta, you could drive to sadhana at the ashram each morning, about 15 minutes.

Or, if you are staying at the Nivas, you can drive to sadhana in about 2 minutes.

And if you are staying anywhere else, you can drive yourself to the course at Anthony's at the Delta.

LOCAL TRANSPORT IN ESPANOLA

There is NO local public transportation in Espanola on the weekends and holidays.  There are no taxis or buses then.  So, if you are staying at the:

Inn at the Delta--you are right next door to the course.

Nivas or Ashram environs--arrange for your own transportation, such as renting a car.

Any other hotel or private home--you would need your own car or rental car to get around Espanola.  But if you had a car, you could also spend time before or after the course seeing all of the grand sights here in Northern New Mexico.  Don't miss the amazing mural at the Gurdwara.  Please cover your head and remove your shoes to enter.  The combo lock is 5-4-3.  More at www.SoulAnswer.com/new_mexico.html

Directions to Everywhere!
And a Few Logistics.

See the green box at the top of this page to get MAPS to all of our locations.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS FROM ALBUQUERQUE, TAOS AND CHAMA to the DreamCatcher movie theater near the Ashram are at www.SoulAnswer.com/new_mexico.html .

DRIVING DIRECTIONS: From Santa Fe to the Nivas (guest house) area where you will find the Gold House.

Drive north from Santa Fe on Rte. 84/285 about ½ hour.

At the south side of Espanola—seemingly in the middle of nowhere, you will come to a stoplight.  The DreamCatcher movie theater is on the far right side.  Make a right there onto Rt. 106, Yogi Bhajan Hwy.

Pass the Sombrillo Rd. intersection and Yogi Bhajan’s Ranch on the left side.

The next right turn is Shady Lane.  Turn right here.  Then after the house on the corner you will see a property on the left with a chain link fence around it.  The gate is sort of across from 5 Shady Lane and the small drive called Prosperity Path that you will see on the right.  Turn left into the gate to that property.  This is the Nivas area where the original Ladies’ Camp used to be.  You will see a few grey trailers and a stucco house that is painted bright yellow.  That house is the Gold House, which is the most used Nivas.

WALKING TO THE GURDWARA FOR SADHANA from the Gold House.

If you want to walk up to the Gurdwara (temple) for early morning sadhana that runs from 4 to 6:30 AM, walk out of that Ladies’ Camp gate, cross Shady Lane, and walk up the dirt drive that is straight across the street.  (This dirt drive is just up the road from Prosperity Path.)  On this drive/path, you will pass a house on your left and a number of trailers (3HO offices).  Then continue on the path for a good ways until you reach the golden domed Gurdwara.  The walk takes about 15 minutes.

Leave your shoes on the shoe rack outside, then open the door to the Gurdwara.  The combination to the lock on the Gurdwara door is 5-4-3.  That is you press each of 3 buttons in sequence, starting with the bottom button and moving up for the next two buttons, then turn the door handle.   Be sure to take your sheep skin, blanket, etc. for prayers, yoga, and wonderful sung meditations.  Then you will need a head covering for the last half hour kirtan (hymn singing, prayer and reading of the hokum or message for the day.)  The exquisite mural in the back of the Gurdwara is not to be missed!

DRIVING TO THE GURDWARA from the Gold House.

Coming out of the Ladies Camp property, turn left on Shady Lane.  This curves around.  When you meet a “T” intersection with Sombrillo Rd., make a right.  Then shortly, turn right into the parking lot.  To get into the locked Gurdwara, follow the directions just above.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:  From Santa Fe to the golden domed Gurdwara.

On the right, you will pass the drive to the elementary school.  Then turn right onto E. Sombrillo Rd.  In a few hundred yards, on the left you will see the golden dome atop a large white building.  This is the Gurdwara and the entrance is on the courtyard, which is on the other side.  Just before the Gurdwara , but next it, you will see a wooden gazebo near the flagpoles.  This is where that wonderfully vibrant statue of Baba Siri Chand lives.  Pay him a visit.  You may find him talking to you!

DRIVING DIRECTIONS FROM THE DREAMCATCHER movie theater to Anthony’s on the Delta and the Inn on the Delta.  About 15 minutes.

·         If you are coming from Santa Fe, stay on Rt. 84/285, or

·         If you are coming from the Gurdwara or the Nivas areas, you will be coming up Rt. 106, Yogi Bhajan Highway to the main highway.  By the DreamCatcher Theater, at the light turn right onto the highway Rt. 84/285.

Continue north on Rt. 84/285 for about a mile.

At the second stop light (not counting the one at the DreamCatcher), you will see Dandyburger on your left, and a big lit-up sign board for the town of Espanola events to the far left.  Turn left here to continue to follow Rt. 84/285 towards Chama and Abiquiu.  (If you go straight, the highway changes to Rt. 64 and goes through the main part of Espanola, heading to Taos.  Do not do this.)

You will cross the Rio Grande, and see La Cocina Restaurant on your right.

At the stoplight (with the Los Alamos Hwy.), make a right.  Within a block you will be making a left, so get in the middle lane.

At the next stoplight, make a left onto Paseo de Onante, and stay in the right lane.  You will pass Gil’s Auto Repair and a couple of other buildings on your right.  Immediately, you will see a neon sign on a building that says  “Delta Bar.”  Just after that, turn right into that compound area parking where the sign says “Anthony’s on the Delta.”  (If you continue driving towards the back of that property, you will see the “Inn at the Delta” on the left and back.  Their entrance is at the far end.)

To get to our course, next to bar—in the same building you will see an entrance to the flower shop.  Go in the flower shop door and turn left to go through the patio, and then on the far side of the patio, go back into the building.  Turn left and walk straight to the far back of the building where you will see registration set up.  Our “Mela” room is up the stairs that lead to the balcony.

Anthony’s on the Delta, 233 N. Paseo de Onante, Espanola, NM 87532.  505-753-3102.

This compound has several different businesses in it that are all run by various members of the long-time local and very kind Garcia family.
